Scope of Services Design, Build and Commissioning under Fast Track Turn Key contract of the Clean Room, entire Fab Base Build Systems and Process Specific Systems (Chemicals & Gases), Energy Center and Administration Building.
Timeline 13 months from “First Pile Concrete” to “Clean Room ready for Equipment” Milestone. (April 2001 – April 2002)
The Project M+W Group was selected by Tower Semiconductors Ltd. to provide full design and construction under a Fast Track Turn Key contract of the FAB2 Facility for a value of 220 MUS$. The FAB ultimate goal is to produce CMOS Logic Devices on 200 mm silicon wafers with a maximum planned manufacturing capacity of 33,000 WSPM (Wafer Start per Month). The Feature Size is 0.18 µm with a roadmap capability of up to 0,1 µm. Critical aspects of the project were site very limited available area (47 dunams only) which required careful planning and JIT (Just In Time) equipment delivery strategy. Also, manpower management (up to 1800 people at peak) was very challenging. The design and construction took also into consideration the different expansion phases of the facility to meet the client requirements
Result
The Key to a successful Fast Track Project is Overlap. This concept was extensively implemented on the FAB2 project and allowed the completion of the project under extremely tight schedule and within committed budget. The project started from “Green Field” and had a major impact on the community and the entire Migdal Haemek area.
